On behalf of the residents of Regent Park we are honored and excited to celebrate the arrival of
the Regent Park World Urban Pavilion a natural fit for a community that has been welcoming
people from all over the world since the 1940s.

As one of Toronto’s most multicultural neighborhoods, Regent Park has experienced rapid
change over the last 15 years, attracting much attention to our vibrant streets. Yet through it all,
the people of Regent Park have remained steadfast in how much we value community and
connection In fact, it’s due to the impassioned drive of the residents and their ongoing efforts in
lobbying for community needs and amenities that we are well on our way to becoming the
successful mixed income, mixed use community that was envisioned. The level of community
involvement that has driven the redevelopment of Regent Park is virtually unheard of in any
other revitalization around the world.

Everywhere you turn you see people families and individual s going out, trying something
new; from swimming in the beautifully designed Regent Park Aquatic Centre to children taking
music classes and emerging artists participating in one of the many free ArtHeart programs at
Daniel’s Spectrum, the three story cultural hub of Regent Park. Indeed, it’s here at Daniel’s
Spectrum that Regent Park’s rich history is often on display and where cultural events are shared
by everyone. While amenities like these were certainly ambitious ideas, the residents were vital
in helping to shape the Regent Park we all live in today.
Of
course, like most communities in any big city, we also have our challenges. But what sustains
us during any difficult time is the caring and support that residents continue to show each other
something that’s become even more evident during the COVID 19 crisis. Now, as pandemic
restrictions begin to ease, the community is once again looking forward to being able to connect
at our much loved events like the weekly Cultural Bazaar, the annual festival Sunday in the
Park, which is now entering its third decade, or the renowned Regent Park Film Festival a
showcase of local and international independent films. We would be remiss not to include our
weekly Taste of Regent Park food festival on that list. The lineups alone can tell you how many
hidden talents we have when it comes to cooking in this neighborhood.
The
World Urban Pavilion has chosen Regent Park in Toronto as their new home, largely due to
our community centric approach to revitalization. And like everyone who has come before, we
welcome them and you to our incredible community shaped by the residents of Regent Park,
people who love their community so passionately that they are pioneering its transformation into
a place of connection and inclusion for generations to come. There are many more wonderful
things to share with you so o n behalf of the Regent Park community we welcome you to Regent
Park.
